Women of Marvel Part Deux??
2006-10-30 16:09:25

Some of you (all the ones that would like to remain among the living) enjoyed the Women of Marvel TPB that I worked so hard on and poured so much love into. Now I might (notice the word "might" - as I always say NOTHING is definite) be getting the opportunity to do a second one! I have some ideas for what stories I'd like to put in, but I thought maybe you guys would like to tell me what YOU'D like in there. Keep in mind I reserve the right to COMPLETELY IGNORE your suggestions if I don't like 'em. ;) But who knows, you might point me to something I hadn't thought of and would ALSO really like to have in a second volume!

In the meantime, enjoy this image of some toys I have at my desk!

-- Jen "Hotchachacha" Grünwald
Women of Marvel was a lot of fun. My suggestions for vol 2:

A Selene story from New Mutants or Uncanny X-Men.
An early Psylocke story.
A Dani Moonstar story - maybe New Mutants #41?
"Black Cat & Dazzler" from Strange Tales (80s) #10, or "The Lady and the Unicorn" from Cloak & Dagger #9.
Some Golden Age heroines like Venus, Sun Girl and Miss America.
Millie the Model!

Ooops, should have been "Black Cat & Dagger"

Questions for Mike
1) I'm really enjoying Marvel's current reprinting of older books in addition to currently running series. Have there been any projects that the trade dept. was pleasantly surprised about their sales performance?

2) Do you and the other people in the trade dept. have personal "dream projects" that you would jump at should the opportunity arise? If so, would you list some?

3) In regards to early volumes of currently running series being out of print (example: Cable/Deadpool), what's the current thinking on that? I mean is it strictly tied to how quickly the print run for a new printing would sell out or is it also taken into account that those missing volumes could really be handicapping the performance of not only new volumes but also sales of the ongoing book?

NIGHT NURSE!!!!!
We have to get some of the drama that is the making of...a nurse! (Because $75 for a copy of a back issue for the adventures of Linda Carter is way too much!)

Maybe do a Bring on the Bad Girls type thing with Moonstone, Enchantress, Titania, Goblin Queen and others. That kind of thing.

I second Mark Thorson's genius idea.

Spider-Man Newspaper Strip reprint
Hey, I read online earlier in the year that either Marvel or Panini Italia was going to reprint the 70's Lee/Romita SM newspaper strips in something akin to the Essential format. Is this still a go (haven't heard anything on it since), and, if it's produced by Panini, will it be available stateside? Reprinting the Conan, Hulk and Howard the Duck strips would be great as well!

So Jen, did this post jump back to the top because you need more suggestions, or is the server just acting up?

Because if it's the suggestions thing, I can always bring up Illyana. :-)
(New Mutants #14, perhaps? )

Spider-Girl digest question and answers
I've been loving the Spider-Girl digests, donating them to libraries and giving them as gifts to every third person I see. But if you keep up with the six-issue-per-digest cycle you won't be able to present the six-part stories "Season of the Serpent" and "Marked for Death" in single volumes. I wonder if this is the reason an eighth digest hasn't been solicited yet.

Anyway, here is my proposed numbering systems which will carry you through Spider-Girl 100 and 10 more digests, along with suggested titles. Feel free to ignore them. And thanks!

Digest 8: "(And her) Amazing Friends"
Issues 39-45 (seven issues)

Digest 9: "God and Monsters, Goblins and Spiders"
Issues 46-50, 52-53 (seven issues)

Digest 10: "Season of the Serpent"
Issues 54-59,(six issues)

Digest 11: "Marked for Death"
Issues 60-66, (seven issues)

Digest 12: "Monster Bash"
Issues 67-72 (six issues)

Digest 13: "Team Spider"
Issues 73-78 (six issues)

Digest 14: "Back in Black"
Issues 79-84 (six issues)

Digest 15: "Family Business"
Issues 85-90 (six issues)

Digest 16: "Old Soldiers"
Issues 91-96 (five issues)

Digest 17: "Here Comes Hobgoblin"
Issues 97-100 (four issues, including double-sized No. 100)

madrox...
Hey... was just trying to get more Madrox TPBs into our store, but Diamond says it's out of stock, no back-order... SAY IT AIN'T SO, SAY IT AIN'T SO... do you if you'll go back to print on that?

have I done something wrong?
Hey Jen, every time I post a question to u guys, it gets deleted... I just wanted to ask some questions, and I'm not sure if I've horribly offended you somehow... please let me know what I've done wrong, so I stop doing and can participate in the posting fun!

Sorry
I don't know why that happens. I also don't have an answer on Madrox, but I'll bring it up to our sales guys! Thanks!
