An exploratory craft created by the godlike alien Celestials was sent to Earth to record history there. the craft landed in Mongolia in the 12th century, where a nomadic tribe led by t5he immortal mutant Garbha-Hsien (later the External Saul) found it an admired its power until En Sabah Nur took over the ship. Over the following centuries, Nur, who became Apocalypse, learned to control the ship, which eventually developed sentience. Apocalypse and Ship were briefly pulled forward in time by 1940's criminal Isbisa to battle She-Hulk.
