Wednesday, June 20th might seem like a normal day to the average person. But to comic book readers and George R. R. Martin fans, the day will take on an entirely different meaning as comic book stores across the United States participate in an event called Westeros Wednesday, celebrating the launch of the first issue of George R. R. Martin's The Hedge Knight II: The Sworn Sword.
The Hedge Knight II: The Sworn Sword is the sequel to one of the bestselling graphic novels of 2004, a critically acclaimed fantasy story set in the realm of Martin's Westeros 100 years before the events of his epic novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire. While the first story saw the rise of an inexperienced, yet honorable knight named Ser Duncan the Tall in a tilting tournament, The Sworn Sword focuses on his service under a bitter old noble as a war begins to brew in the countryside.
The first issue of the six-part miniseries will arrive in comic book stores on June 20th, 2007, featuring a cover by series artist Mike S. Miller and a special variant cover by superstar Leinil Yu. Retailers who still wish to participate in the free Westeros Wednesday event should email Sean Jordan at Dabel Brothers Productions (sjordan@dabelbrothers.com) with their store address and phone number by June 10th to ensure that they're included!
