For team that's technically disbanded, the Ultimate X-Men have certainly kept busy. Led by the mysterious time traveler Bishop, the Ultimate Children of the Atom have been hot on the trail of the Fenris twins and the rising Mutant Liberation Front. But now, with the Sentinels finally unleashed, the X-Men need more manpower bad.
Andrea and Andreas Von Strucker, the twins known as Fenris, played a pivotal role in creating this new breed of Sentinel as well as forming the MLF using the enigmatic Stryfe as a pawn. Unfortunately for the sinister siblings, they ended up on the wrong side of Bishop's deadly bio-blasts in ULTIMATE X-MEN #87, but too late to prevent the launch of the Sentinel armada.
With the robotic killers unleashing hell on anybody unfortunate enough to be a mutant, the world needs X-Men more than ever—too bad they don't exist anymore! Bishop's motley crew of Wolverine, Angel, Dazzler, Psylocke, Storm and Pyro are a long shot to save the day even with the shocking return of the presumed-dead Beast.
The conclusion of ULTIMATE X-MEN #87 saw Beast, very much alive and once again in human form, springing into action against the Sentinels, much to the surprise of his old girlfriend, Storm. Can Henry McCoy's genius intellect find a way to stop the Sentinels?
If Sentinels weren't bad enough—and they are—ULTIMATE X-MEN #87 also showed Stryfe to be far more dangerous than he appeared. Responsible for forming the
bogus Mutant Liberation Front to justify the Sentinels creation, Stryfe's motives remain unclear but undeniably evil. Bishop may have him in custody for now, but there's no telling what the charismatic mutant has up his sleeve.
Can Beast save the day alone? Will Cyclops and company come to the aid of their old friends? Can the Sentinels be stopped? And what's the deal with the apparent alliance between Bishop and Cable, the man who kidnapped Professor X?
