Ms. Marvel Takes Flight With Bold New Direction
Posted: 2007-04-06 Updated: 2007-07-10 14:46:24
When MS. MARVEL debuted little over a year ago, Ms. Marvel said she wanted to be the best of the best and if reader response is any indication, she's making her way to the top! With new regular penciller Aaron Lopresti onboard, joining regular writer Brian Reed and cover artist Greg Horn, issues #13 and #14 of MS. MARVEL have sold out at Diamond! Tying into The Initiative, Mighty Avengers, Omega Flight and Civil War, MS. MARVEL is quickly becoming the place to go for stories that tie into the "big picture" of the Marvel U!
"Two sell-outs in a row? And a gain of over 10,000 readers? Ms. Marvel is making 2007 her year!" exclaimed series editor Bill Rosemann. "She's leading Earth's best in MIGHTY AVENGERS, she's teaching the next generation of heroes in THE INITIATIVE, and this is the book where it all comes together. Issue #13 showed how Carol came to the decision to join Tony Stark's new team, issue #14 reveals how she sets up Arachne to star in OMEGA FLIGHT – and just wait until you see how issues #15 - #17 set the stage for SUPER-VILLAIN TEAM-UP: M.O.D.O.K.'s 11! To me, Carol Danvers is the Kevin Bacon of the Marvel Universe – she's connected to everything cool going on right now… and the killer new creative team of writer Brian Reed, penciler Aaron Lopresti, inker Matt Ryan, colorist Chris Sotomayor, letter Dave Sharpe and cover artist Greg Horn are on a roll. Readership is up, issues are selling out, and the best is yet to come!"
And you won't want to miss the epic showdown in MS.MARVEL #15, coming in May, as the new "Ready, A.I.M., Fire!" storyline begins.
"Every month our whole team is here, helping Carol Danvers be the single most important woman in the Marvel Universe. From Iron Man to Ant Man, the Mighty Avengers to The Initiative - the Marvel Universe is absolutely revolving around Ms. Marvel these days," said Reed, who's also working on the red hot New Avengers: Illuminati. "And now two months in a row the audience has grown to the point that we're selling out? That's about the best thing I could ask for."
Please note that MS.MARVEL #13-14 may still be available at the retailer level. Marvel advises that retailers check their orders for upcoming issues, as MS.MARVEL continues to have huge repercussions for the rest of the Marvel Universe. At this time there are no plans to go back to press on either sold out issue.
