The Abominable Mr. Roth
Tim Roth cast as the Abomination in The Incredible Hulk

The Incredible Hulk is big, but the Abomination is bigger, and that's exactly who the Hulk will be squaring off against in Marvel Studios' blockbuster Incredible Hulk film, hitting theaters June 13, 2008. According to reports in Variety and the Hollywood Reporter Tim Roth has been cast as Emil Blonsky, the Abomination's alter ego and the Hulk's gamma-powered arch-nemesis.

Roth joins Ed Norton (Bruce Banner/Hulk) and Liv Tyler (Betty Ross) in The Incredible Hulk. Directed by Louis Leterrier, this film promises to be a fresh vision of the Hulk, while playing upon existing mythos.

Emil Blonsky was a Yugoslavian spy working for the KGB who bombarded with an unhealthy dose of gamma radiation, the same that transformed Bruce Banner into the lovable Jade Giant. This resulted in permanently transforming him into a giant green monster called the Abomination, rivaling Hulk in both power and temperament. Though he may have the strength and the ability to maintain self-control in his monstrous form, he, unlike the Hulk, is unable to revert back to a normal human. Blonsky misguidedly blames Banner for his present condition and has brought the fight to Hulk on many occasions.

Roth moved to Los Angeles in the early '90s in search of work. He landed a role as Mr. Orange in the Quentin Tarantino film "Reservoir Dogs." This was a huge breakthrough for Roth as audiences would find it difficult to forget his performance as a bank robber, slowly and agonizingly bleeding to death all over the floor. Since then he has been in "Four Rooms," "Pulp Fiction," picked up an academy award nomination for his performance in "Rob Roy" and even got to star as an evil simian lord in Tim Burton's remake of "The Planet of the Apes." With tons of movie experience under his belt, this acclaimed actor, often mistaken as an American because of his superb acting skills, promises to add an excellently wicked presence to the already prodigious all-star line-up.
