Caliban , alongside Domino and Grizzly, was assigned the mission to locate the powerful mutant detected by the Shadow King. They were to either bring him in as a weapon for Apocalypse or kill him for refusing to join them. Locating the mutant amongst a theatre troupe led by Forge, a battle ensued in which Caliban fought Toad. While both skilled swordsmen, Toad managed to gain the upper hand and killed Caliban by stabbing him through the stomach.
