Joined the Serpent Society (Captain America #310); offered services to the Kingpin alongside Asp (Captain America #311); battled and killed MODOK (Captain America #313); battled Captain America alongside Rattler, Death Adder, and Diamondback, later freed from prison by Sidewinder (Captain America #315); voted against Diamondback in her trial (Captain America #380)

Very little is known about the man known as Cottonmouth. He was somehow contacted by Sidewinder and invited to join the criminal organization called the Serpent Society. Accepting the offer, Cottonmouth's first major success was slaying MODOK alongside teammate Death Adder. His next mission had him battling Captain America with Death Adder, Rattler, and Diamondback. They were all defeated and imprisoned, but later freed by Sidewinder.

When the Viper infiltrated the Serpent Society, Cottonmouth feigned siding with Sidewinder, but quickly betrayed their former leader. He went on to serve with the Serpent Society with King Cobra as leader. He also encountered Black Panther and battled Luke Cage. His most recent activity has seen him allying himself with Hawkeye to escape from prison.
