After Franklin Richards returned the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and Bruce Banner to Earth, it left Counter-Earth without any heroes. Helmut’s father, Baron Heinrich Zemo, devised a plan to trick the world into believing Germany was going to lead the way to restoring the chaotic world back to normal, but in reality had planned to rule it instead. To accomplish this goal, Heinrich Zemo gathered a group of mercenaries together called the Thunderbolts, leaving Helmut in second-in-command. Helmut would often let his short temper get the best of him, only to be scolded by his father. This led to Helmut planning on overthrowing his father once they had gained power. However before he could accomplish this goal, during a battle with the Thunderbolts, Fixer killed Helmut by frying his brain and then transplanted Baron Helmut Zemo’s mind into his body.
