Jean discoverd that she was a witchbreed after developing powers that allowed her to move things with her mind. Posing as a male student, she served as a page and apprentice under Carlos Javier with his other fellow students. She fell in love with fellow student Scotius Summerisle, but because of her secret they could not be together.

After saving Werner from being burned at the stake, he was invited to come back to school, and Jean began a friendship with him. This caused Scotius to become jealous.

As witchbreed, the team faced a constant danger from the various rulers of the surrounding countries. Once Queen Elizabeth had breathed her last, her successor, King James of Scotland, immediately ordered the capture of Javier’s group. Fury was thus forced to lead an army to Javier’s school to take them in. Soon after Fury turned traitor to the crown and along with the group, traveled to Latveria to fight Count Otto von Doom. To get to Latveria, Jean and Javier linked their minds and lifted their ship, the Eagle's Shadow out of the water and flew it to Doomstadt. Along with the stress of keeping the ship aloft and fighting throughout the battle created strain and damage within her brain.

With the battle over, the ship sailed back to the ocean and to the New World, but along the way Grey passed away. Having requested not to be thrown into the sea, Jon Storm carried her body into the air and Scotius burned it away with his eyes. Werner believed he saw the image of a great bird in the flames.
