Seeking to extend Wakanda's prosperity beyond depletion of the nation's limited Vibranium supply, female technologist A'Kane and others developed the Vibrasurge project, creating a new energy source, which proved unstable. A large explosion ensued, killing many and fusing others into a single monstrous, being Vibravore, that was somehow hurled out of phase with reality. A'Kane's son, N'Kano, was caught in the blast and unexpectedly developed vibrational powers, initially trapped in the wreckage, N'Kano used his powers unintentionally to free himself, but accidentally shattered his own bones. Wakanda's ruler Black Panther had N'Kano equipped with a regulator harness to control his powers.
