A 'Classic Enemy' May Be Coming to 'Savage Avengers' #2

How will a team this brutal find common ground?

Savage Avengers #2
SAVAGE AVENGERS (2019) #2

The Savage Avengers are not off to a very cooperative start after the first issue made its debut last week. Do things fare any better for them in SAVAGE AVENGERS #2, which goes on sale Wednesday, June 5? Marvel.com talked to Tom Brevoort, Marvel's Executive Editor and Senior Vice President of Publishing, to get some insight into this brutal batch of heroes!

At the end of SAVAGE AVENGERS #1, written by Gerry Duggan with art by Mike Deodato Jr., the "team" is still not quite a team. Remember -- they may use the name "Avengers," they may also be mighty, but this crew -- made up of Wolverine, Doctor Voodoo, Conan the Barbarian, Venom, Elektra, and the Punisher -- operates a bit differently. “We haven’t even really gotten all of our cast members together in the same place, and already one of them is dead and none of the others are getting along. Which is just about par for the course with this series. It’ll take the appearance of a classic enemy to get our guys to point their swords and guns and claws and sais and stuff in the same direction.”

By the looks of the preview pages, something is coming from a world beyond -- will this be what brings the Savage Avengers together?
