"Absolutely Everything I Want in an X-Men Book": Critics React to 'Marauders' #1

Get a full rundown of what critics are saying about the merry mag!

This week, MARAUDERS #1 set sail as the Dawn of X continued to shine light across the mighty Marvel Universe.

Marauders (2019-) #1

Even in this glorious new dawn, Mutantkind faces hardships and oppression from their human counterparts. Led by Captain Kate Pryde and funded by Emma Frost and the Hellfire Trading Company, Marauders Storm, Pyro, Bishop, and Iceman sail the seas of the world to protect those hated and feared.

The ish is available now at your local comic shop, and to celebrate, we've collected some critical reactions to the mag from across the world. Here's a spoiler-free lineup...

Sequential Planet: MARAUDERS #1 is a complete experience that nearly perfectly establishes the tone of the series. Everything comes together well making this one of the most well-rounded X-Men books in the modern era.

Comic Watch: A great start to a new adventure for a team that has strong potential within for so many reasons. Let's go pirating.

ComicBook.com: MARAUDERS #1 is off to a killer start, and has absolutely everything I want in an X-Men book.

Beyond The Panel: If you are looking for that one fun X-Book of the bunch, right now I have a good feeling that book will be MARAUDERS. The first issue proved to us that there is going to be a good reason for a lot of these books and different teams.

Comics Bookcase: A great start to the auxiliary Dawn of X line of titles, MARAUDERS #1 is a character-driven comic that subtly works in nuanced explorations of the new X-Men status quo. Feel free to set sail with great enthusiasm here.

Comics: The Gathering: Overall this book is the best entry of ‘Dawn of X’ yet. I know we are only two series in so far but MARAUDERS has set the bar extremely high.

AiPT!: Honestly, it’s hard not to linger on every page because it’s just so beautiful.

The Super Powered Fancast: I really enjoyed both the reason for their being and the way this first issue played out. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here.

Weird Science Marvel Comics: If you're interested in an X-Men title filled with some of your classic favorites that's well-paced, funny, and filled with just enough action and questions as the story continues, this is your X-Book.
