Apple Names Marvel's 'Wolverine: The Long Night' As One of 2018's Best Podcasts

It's the best it is at what it does... which is audio-only storytelling.

Marvel's "Wolverine: The Long Night" brought a whole new form of storytelling into the Marvel Universe, and the result was a big hit. Apple revealed their top picks in apps, music, audio, games, and more for 2018 and "Wolverine: The Long Night" was among the best podcasts. It made a list that included nonfiction storytelling, comedy, and other genres and was based on Apple's top 25 most downloaded podcasts of the year as well as the top 25 most downloaded new podcasts of the year.

The unique and innovative methods behind the audio-only format have brought comic storytelling to new audiences:

Marvel Studios' "Black Panther" was also named among the best movies of 2018.

The success of Marvel's "Wolverine: The Long Night" prompted a second installment of the original Wolverine story; Marvel's "Wolverine: The Lost Trail" will be available on Stitcher in 2019. A comic adaptation of "The Long Night" is also forthcoming -- WOLVERINE: THE LONG NIGHT ADAPTATION #1, written by Benjamin Percy (who wrote the script for the podcast) with art by Marcio Takara, will go on sale Wednesday, January 2.
