Often to scared to sleep as a child, Althea became more courageous and eventually learned how to make grown men cry. Fighting alongside Captain America (Steve Rogers) in World War II, she became one of his closest associates in Europe; she reminded him what it meant to be a hero. Before they departed in Moscow, Rogers gave her a medal to thank her. Blinded through unrevealed circumstances, Al eventually joined the mysterious Union and later caused trouble world wide, even for the Vatican. Eventually Deadpool (Wade Wilson) was hired by a Middle Eastern agency to assassinate her, but he spared her life in Zaire, by killing everyone else at the British Shadows Ops installation where she was stationed.
