THE X-MEN'S MAJOR ALTERNATE TIMELINES

The X-Men are no strangers to alternate timelines. Since they faced their first doomed future in 'Days of Future Past,' mutantkind has averted a present where Apocalypse won, experienced Magneto's dream reality, conquered the cosmos as Sinister's soldiers, and so much more. Here are just a few of the X-Men's most impactful alternate timelines so far!

The Future Is Now

Days of Future Past

In Uncanny X-Men (1963) #141

When the assassination of Senator Robert Kelly leads to a future where Sentinels have hunted mutants to the brink of extinction, Kitty Pryde returns from the future to give the present-day X-Men a dire warning in the hopes of averting this timeline altogether.

The Age of Apocalypse

In X-Men: Alpha (1995) #1

Old Man Logan

In Wolverine (2003) #66

After Mysterio tricks him into killing the rest of the X-Men, Logan gives up his life as Wolverine and retires in a world run by super-villains. In this issue, he finds himself called back into action by an elderly Hawkeye, and they journey across the country to confront the ringmaster Red Skull once and for all.

Sins of Sinister

The future looks Sinister in this alternate timeline, where Mister Sinister corrupted Krakoa's Quiet Council through cloning and other means. With some of the most powerful mutants in the world under his control, Sinister launches a conquest that spans the cosmos and lasts for a millennia—until his creations start to turn against him.

The Clan Askani

In X-Factor (1986) #68

In the 36th century, a time-traveling Rachel Summers forms the Clan Askani in an effort to overthrow Apocalypse. Plus: Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor's son Nathan Summers grows into the battle-hardened Cable in this dystopian timeline.

Battle of the Atom

In X-Men: Battle of the Atom (2013) #1

When Beast brings teenage versions of the original X-Men to the present to warn them about their futures, he paves the way for a future where they never return to their era, which creates a timeline where the villainous children of Professor X form a New Brotherhood. When this Brotherhood travels to the modern Marvel Universe, the X-Men of the past, present, and possible future must team up to face them.

X-Men Forever

In X-Men Forever (2009) #1
