Major Victory

In Marvel Super-Heroes (1967) #18

The Guardians’ first appearance! Major Vance Astrovik was an eager Air Force recruit who agreed to an experimental ‘space sleep’ for 1,000 years. But when Astrovik awoke from suspended animation, he found his destination colonized by the Badoon! As Major Victory, he is the leader of the Guardians.

In Guardians 3000 (2014) #1

Yondu Udonta of Centauri IV is an active resister of the Badoon. Like all Centaurians, Yondu is an empath with the spirit of a shaman and warrior. When hunting, he relies on his yaka arrows, controlled by the pitch and frequency of his whistles.

In Galactic Guardians (1994) #1

Martinex T'Naga is a crystalline being from Pluto and the last of his species. Like other Pluvians, his exterior has adapted to withstand extreme temperatures. After serving alongside Major Victory, T’Naga assembled his own Guardians – several of whose members are future counterparts of Earth’s heroes.

In Guardians of the Galaxy (1990) #10

Charlie-27 of Jupiter was modified at birth to be 11 times the mass and three times the gravity of Earth. Like Martinex, he is the last of his humanoid race. Here, ‘Chunky’ leads the charge against Rancor, an unhinged descendant of Wolverine.

Starhawk & Aleta

In Guardians of the Galaxy (1990) #45

When visiting the ‘Forbidden City’, Stakar Ogord became a living vessel of a Hawk-God...after merging bodies with Aleta! Although estranged as husband and wife, Starhawk and Aleta are symbiotically linked. Here, Aleta battles Stakar to be the sole possessor of the Starhawk!

In Marvel Team-Up (1972) #86

Mercurial-minded Nicholette Gold took her hatred for the Badoon and paid it forward as a Guardian. A native of Mercury, Nikki’s skin retains heat and is flame resistant – physical contact with others is difficult, although she’s had an on-off fling with Charlie-27.

In Guardians of the Galaxy (1990) #18

By the 30th century, most of the Inhumans were slaves to a larger empire. The Inhuman Talon escaped servitude through an apprenticeship with Krugarr, Sorcerer Supreme of the 31st century.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Annual (1991) #2

A later addition to the team, the shapeshifting Replica initially hid her Skrull heritage from teammates. With the reveal of her origin, Replica embraced her skillset, joining Martinex’s team as a Galactic Guardian.

In Guardians of the Galaxy (1990) #34

After serving up stings alongside the Avengers, a time-tossed Rita DeMara hitches a ride to the 31st century – and impresses the Guardians enough to become one of their own!
