Captain America Races Towards a Dark Future in Daniel Acuña's 'Avengers: Twilight Foil' Cover

This January, superstar creators Chip Zdarsky and Daniel Acuña reveal a bold fate for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in AVENGERS: TWILIGHT!

In the not-so-distant future, the Avengers are corrupt and use their might to run the world instead of defending it. The only hope for repairing the team’s shattered legacy lies in Steve Rogers. Will he pick up the shield once more to save the world from this tragic state?

Zdarsky and Acuña’s saga will be a thought-provoking epic that examines what it means to be a Super Hero in the Marvel Universe, as Steve finds himself in conflict with characters that have startling connections to the Avengers of today and tackles the heartbreaking tragedies that befell his former teammates.  

Like many of Marvel’s biggest launches, AVENGERS: TWILIGHT #1 will shine on stands with a stunning Foil Variant Cover. Drawn by Acuña, the cover spotlights Steve, suited up in his brand-new costume, rushing towards this mission he’s always been destined for: Avenging the Avengers! 

In a gleaming new world of prosperity, Captain America is no more. But Steve Rogers still exists, floating through an America where freedom is an illusion, where the Avengers are strangers and his friends are long dead. But is the Dream? How do you assemble Avengers in a world that doesn’t want them? 

"Steve is the perfect character with which to see a changed future since he's been through that experience before coming out of WW2," Zdarsky explained to ComicBook.com in a recent interview. "His ethics and morals and outlook have a consistency to them, so seeing how he reacts to a changed America is always interesting, to me at least! And this future America is seemingly perfect, so Steve has to question whether or not to upset what his fellow Americans are comfortable with in pursuit of the truth."
