Marvel Comics Win at the 2018 Eisner Awards
The Black Bolt and Black Panther: World of Wakanda creative teams were honored for their achievements!
The 2018 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards were handed out last night at San Diego Comic-Con, and the creative teams behind two groundbreaking Marvel Comics won for their exceptional work throughout the last year of comic book creation.
BLACK PANTHER: WORLD OF WAKANDA by writers Roxane Gay, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and artist Alitha E. Martinez won the Eisner for Best Limited Series!
This Panther tale explored the culture and influence of the nation of Wakanda alongside the Midnight Angels, a superior strike force formed within the Dora Milaje. Giving readers an intimate look at characters rarely seen in the spotlight before, like Ayo, Aneka, and Kasper Cole, the creative team behind the series proved that the power of Wakanda resonates across the world.
Not to be outdone, the King of Wakanda was matched by another king at the Eisner Awards: BLACK BOLT!
The modern classic 12-issue run by writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Christian Ward was named the winner of the Eisner Award for Best New Series. An Inhuman odyssey unlike any before, the cosmic tale saw Black Bolt brought to the brink by circumstances and foes alike. Undeterred, the King's dogged quest led him back across the galaxy, all in characteristic silence.
Congratulations to the Marvel teams that were nominated for Awards, and to Roxane Gay, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Alitha E. Martinez, Saladin Ahmed, and Christian Ward for their wins at the 2018 Eisners!
