Gearing up for this next saga in the Moon Knight canon, MacKay sat down with Marvel.com to tease the uphill battle Marc Spector will face in the months head. 

Marvel.com: MOON KNIGHT: FIST OF KHONSHU #9 marks a turning point in the war between the Midnight Mission and rising criminal kingpin, Achilles Fairchild. How would you describe the challenge he poses to Marc Spector?

MacKay: Fairchild represents a different kind of threat than the ones that Moon Knight has dealt with so far in this book- it's not personal for him, it's just business. Business that he enjoys enormously, of course, but he has no more interest in Moon Knight than he would in Daredevil or Spider-Man. After all, he's from Asgard- all these mere mortals look alike. Fairchild embodies all the worst qualities of the gangster- the overweening ambition, the fragile pride, the grasping avarice- but as a God of Gangsters is above a mere mortal, so too are his vices and sins made bigger than life.

Marvel.com: Series artist Devmalya Pramanik really brings Fairchild to life in the pages of MOON KNIGHT: FIST OF KHONSHU. What’s it like working together?

MacKay: Dev's been fantastic- he's always looking to push his work and the book to make every punch land harder, to make every page more exciting and interesting to read, to make every big moment into a huge one. Dev's really made the book his own, and I can't wait for readers to see what he's got coming up next!

Marvel.com: You’ve been adding to the Moon Knight legacy since 2021. MOON KNIGHT: FIST OF KHONSHU #10 celebrates the character’s landmark 250th issue, which you will write. How does that feel? And what can you tease about the story?

MacKay: It's been pretty amazing to turn the bend on our 50th issue of Moon Knight. #50 is a milestone you rarely get to hit in this business, let alone with Moon Knight, so gratitude to the readers who took a chance and stuck with the book for so long is first and foremost in my mind. #10 will see the entire Midnight Mission gang come down on Achilles Fairchild and his whole operation like a guillotine, but he's not going down without a fight, not if the death squad of Moon Knight's rogue's gallery he's assembled has anything to say about it!
