Check out a behind-the-scenes look at Marvel Studios' 'Black Widow'!

Not many actors get to play the same character for a second, third, or even fourth time — let alone the same character over the span of a decade. However, with Natasha Romanoff’s introduction back in Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 2, Scarlett Johansson has racked up numerous appearances as Black Widow across the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

She’ll reprise the role once again in Marvel Studios’ Black Widow, and this time we’re going to glimpse a side of the Super Hero we’ve never seen before.

In a brand new behind-the-scenes featurette, Johansson explains — way back in 2009! — that she “would love to take this character in every different direction, [because] the possibilities are really endless.”

Fast forward a decade, and that opportunity is finally here with 2020’s Black Widow. Johansson feels that with this movie, “We’re going to be able to create something that’s a different flavor for the Marvel Universe.” Check out the new featurette below!

Echoing Johansson’s excitement, the film’s director Cate Shortland, can’t wait for audiences “to see the real Black Widow.”

“She’s not a classic hero, because she has a dark past,” Shortland continues. “You get to see all these facets of here that we’ve never ever seen before.” We already know and love Natasha, but are you ready to learn even more about her past?

Black Widow opens in theaters on May 1, 2020.
