For a look at where we were before episode 10, we deputized Marvel.com writer (and first-time listener) Amanda Ames to keep up with the action as it's released. So here's a look at what went down in chapter 9...
There may be a thousand ways to die in Alaska, but one in particular will no longer plague the town of Burns... It’s frontier justice in true fashion and this towns secrets will be laid to rest one way or another.
After a long and convoluted investigation, our agents finally have their killer–Hudson Langrock. This brings the investigation to a pretty literal head, but there are still questions in need of answers. Our agents set out to find the proof they need to bring this killer to justice, but the search is interrupted when they learn Bobby has been found and taken to the Burns hospital. He’s in pretty bad shape, but he may hold the key to tracking down both Hudson and Logan.
It’s time to set the story straight and bring this case to a close.
- A trip to the local taxidermy office brings our agents face to face with Hudson’s victims, as well as a less-than-willing accomplice who spins a tail of sorrow and hardship in our killer’s past. He believes this life of torment perpetrated by his father and brother pushed Hudson over the edge, turning him into a monster. Turns out there are two Hudsons: the gentle, some say weak, human, and the unnatural and murderous monster he transforms into. And while these transformations don’t seem voluntary, it’s clear Hudson prefers his more lethal form.
- After a phone call informs our agents that Bobby’s been found, they race to the hospital and discover he’s rather worse for the wear. Bobby recounts what’s happened since his disappearance explaining that he’d been spying on Marshall and Pierce for Ridge since day one. But when he learned what Ridge was up to with the Langrocks, he pretended to join the scam so he could work as a double agent and report back to Marshall and Pierce. But things didn’t go as planned and he never got the chance. Bobby’s first day “on the job” landed him in the middle of Logan’s rampage on their drug processing plant. Bobby managed to escape with his life and headed straight for the Langrocks' house to confront them.
- Unfortunately, what Bobby found there was more than he bargained for. Joe discovered the true murderer in town and locked Hudson in a steel cage before berating him about how much of a worthless disappointment he was. This sent Hudson into a rage, ending with him killing his father just as Logan came crashing through the security gate in a semi truck loaded with a bomb big enough to blow the whole place sky high. An all out brawl between the two ensued, but when Hudson got away, Bobby went back to pull Logan from the wreckage. Moments later, the bomb blew and Bobby found himself in the hospital, while Logan vanished.
A little light is finally being shed on the situation…just in time for the Aurora to cut power to the town and send it careening into darkness once more. But when Marshall tries to jumpstart the generators, he realizes he’s not alone. Logan is waiting for him.
There’s one killer, one vigilante, and one episode left–will our agents get their man or will both Logan and Hudson escape into the night?
