Anika Noni Rose Guest Stars as T'Challa's Ancestor on 'Marvel's Avengers: Black Panther's Quest'

The 'Princess and the Frog' star discusses joining the Marvel Universe in a new episode airing Sunday, January 20 at 9:00pm ET/PT.

This Sunday's new episode of "Marvel's Avengers: Black Panther's Quest" on Disney XD puts the spotlight on a special character who called for a special guest to play them, as Anika Noni Rose voices Yemandi!

In the episode, appropriately called “Yemandi," T'Challa discovers secrets about his ancestor. That ancestor, voiced by Rose, was the Black Panther centuries before, whose adventures involved none other than a young Thor!

The acclaimed, Tony-Award winning Rose's place in animation history is, of course, secure thanks to her beloved role as Tiana in "The Princess and the Frog," which she recently reprised in "Ralph Breaks the Internet." While recording her role for "Marvel's Avengers: Black Panther's Quest," Rose sat down with Marvel.com to discuss what it's like to now voice Yemandi.

Watch the video above to see what Rose had to say about working in animation, what Yemandi thinks of Thor, and her excitement over getting to join the Marvel Universe!
