On the alternate Earth-998, the mutant inventor, Forge was maker and lover to the Red Queen. While he was in the service of the Queen, Forge conceptualized a device that would teleport her across realities. Forge quickly constructed the device, but he informed the Queen that he had not figured how to bring her back to Reality-9575. Forge was summoned back to the Queens palace by the Lord Protector Mr. Scratch, who killed Forge to protect the Queen's secrets. Forge's corpse was stolen by Shaman, who with the help of Nate Grey (Earth-295), reanimated the corpse of the dead inventor so that they could learn the Queens secrets.
