Lupa was genetically altered by Brainchild, who, as a test, asked her to help settle a score with Storm. When Beast came to help Storm, Lupa used her new powers to enslave him, but her new abilities were no match for Beast, who was more highly skilled and trained than she was. He was able to snap out of her spell and helped the other X-Men defeat the Savage Land Mutates.
