Toughy Tomcat, AKA Toughy Cat, is often Silly’s enemy who is always trying to defeat Silly and Ziggy too. When Ziggy is in a scrap with the alley cat, Silly swoops in and as Toughy tries to get rid of Silly, Ziggy saves the day.
Víctor von Doom, AKA Doctor Doom, brings Ziggy and Silly back together after a falling–out and it leads down a road to Latveria and a comeback featuring Doom.
Practical Pal
Ziggy Pig is Silly’s closest most practical pal who never ceases to make everything so serious. But together with their complimentary personalities, these practically inseparable anthropomorphic animals solve problems and go up against the likes of Toughy Cat when he tries to hurt them–and sometimes they just give him a hard time.
The Animated Tales of Silly Seal
Silly often goes head to head with Toughy Cat with his practical pal Ziggy Pig. When Toughy Cat captured Ziggy and strapped him to a saw table, Silly saved Ziggy.
While Silly had a leak in his home, Ziggy arrived to pick him up for the beach. Ziggy and Silly swam around trying to find the source. Silly realized he needed to save his pet fish and does so and when they finally discovered the leak, it was a sink faucet. Silly desired a glass of water while Ziggy resolved to call a plumber. The plumber’s assistant arrived without the plumber. Ziggy tried to make the best of it by seeking out his swimsuit but was smashed by a door, despite Silly warning him away from the door. With Ziggy knocked out, Silly decided to revive him with a bucket of water. The plumber’s assistant returned with the plumber and discovered the leak was a shower that had been left on. Silly encouraged them all to go to the beach to go swimming and the rest swam in the remaining water while Silly was left on his own.
After Toughy Cat attacked Johnny Storm, AKA Human Torch, and Susan Storm-Richards, AKA Invisible Girl (now Invisible Woman) of the Fantastic Four,, Silly and Ziggy met up with Johnny and Ben Grimm, AKA The Thing, along with their pals Super Rabbit, Wacky Duck and Krazy Krow. They recalled their fall from grace back in the 1940s when they ceased to fit into the modern world. It was Toughy Tomcat that helped them survive by using his feline nature to take bounty hunter jobs, but the money changed him and he kept the group from venturing outside, for decades, claiming the world was too dangerous. The team tricked Toughy by secretly hiring him to take down the Fantastic Four thinking he would fail but their plan backfired. It wasn’t until The Thing smashed a piano into Toughy that he reverted back to his old self and Toughy reunited with Ziggy and Silly.
While Ziggy was Silly’s closest friend, they had a falling out. Silly, the ever-lovable but gullible seal became rich while Ziggy became a broke bitter bum who drank too much. Ziggy despised Silly for his wealth. Though they were brought back together by Doctor Doom on a road to Latveria where Doom, obsessed with Ziggy and Silly, revealed he caught Ziggy signing into Silly’s Facespace and unfriending him. Outraged and about to give a kill order, Silly’s wife Roxanne saved the day by having Doom sign a contract for the upcoming special: The Road to Latveria starring Ziggy, Doom and of course Silly.
