Today in Marvel History: The Thanos Snap

Twenty-eight years ago today, 'Infinity Gauntlet' #1 changed the Marvel Universe forever.

In the early 1990s, a cosmic story with roots in the 1970s had matured through the pages of SILVER SURFER and THANOS QUEST reached the beginning of its end.

Set on eliminating half of all living things across the universe, Thanos had finally gathered the Infinity Gems. And then...

Thanos

He snapped.

On May 21, 1991, the Mad Titan upended existence with a single click of his fingers, killing 50% of life, and leaving the Super Heroes of the Marvel universe with the greatest fight in history ahead of them. Led by the resurrected Adam Warlock and aided by primal cosmic forces, Earth's protectors entered cosmic warfare in a six-issue event written by Jim Starlin and featuring the art of George Perez and Ron Lim. And 28 years later, the reverberations of this one action are still echoing across the world!
