'Venom' #250 First Look Unearths the Symbiote Conspiracy Setting the Stage for Knull’s Return

Get a sneak peek into Knull’s return in 'Venom' 250. Plus, take a look at the upcoming issue’s variant covers!

The King in Black wants to reclaim his throne.

This October, Knull returns in VENOM #250 by Al Ewing, Terry Dodson, and Todd Nauck. Following his defeat at the hands of Eddie Brock in the pages of 2020's KING IN BLACK, Knull set his sights on the Marvel Universe once more. However, the rematch between Knull and Venom takes an unexpected twist, as Mary Jane Watson now hosts the alien symbiote once bonded to Eddie Brock.

In a recent interview with IGN, VENOM (2025) series writer Al Ewing provided some insight into the coming showdown between Knull and Mary Jane Watson. "The Venom/Knull story isn't going to play out how anyone expects it will, including Venom and Knull themselves," teased Ewing. "MJ's going to have to deal with Knull in a way Eddie didn't have to, while fighting off a whole other cosmic enemy besides - but that's all the spoilers I'm going to give about that for now."

The preview for VENOM #250 opens with MJ and Venom in the swing of their new life together, with the redheaded heroine getting ready to meet her agent. Meanwhile, across the cosmos and in the cold depths of space, a Skrull spy uncovers a symbiote conspiracy on the Chituari throneworld. Could it be the key to Knull's return?

The road to Knull’s return is paved in the VENOM #250 preview below!

"I've written Knull before, but last time was during the KING IN BLACK event itself, so I was absolutely taking cues from Donny and Ryan on how to handle him," Ewing says. "This time, I'm treating him a little differently, but the core of the character remains the same: he's a force of absolute evil, absolute darkness, absolute nothingness, and if you think you can handle him - as an adversary, as an ally, or as a mixture of the two - you've got a big surprise coming."

Get your first look at Knull's return in the preview pages below, as well as in the brand-new variant covers celebrating the 250th issue of VENOM. The landmark issue also contains a back-up story by Charles Soule and Carlos Gomez starring the symbiote host who started it all: Eddie Brock!
