The Best Moments from Marvel Studios' Hall H Panel at SDCC 2019

Get an inside look at last night's groundshaking San Diego Comic-Con event!

Last night at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, members of the Merry Marvel Marching Society in Hall H and across the world were introduced to Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as all the Marvel Studios plans for Disney+!

Six movies and five shows were unveiled, wonderful casting announcements came to light, new characters were revealed, first-time footage was played, and so much more went down within the wild walls of Hall H. And luckily for Marvelites that couldn't make it to the convention, Marvel's own Ryan "Agent M" Penagos had a prime position to report on all the delightful updates.

Here's how it all happened!

Marvel Studios

Before the panel even started, Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo arrived in the hall to take their seats as spectators—and they did not go unnoticed by adoring fans, as the crowd chanted the names of the visionary creators as they sat down! Then, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige arrived on stage to begin the show...

First, Feige introduced a host of Marvel Studios producers and executives who have brought the MCU to life for over a decade throughout The Infinity Saga—and the crowd was eager to show their appreciation for all of their hard work and dedication.

Then, Kevin Feige announced that Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame would (and now has) become the number one grossing movies in history, capping off the landmark series of films that culminated earlier this year. But that's all in the past now, and this panel was about the future—starting with...

Marvel Studios’ The Eternals! Director Chloé Zhao emerged to introduce fans to the cast set to portray this Jack Kirby-inspired collection of immortal beings on November 6, 2020... With Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo...

...Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, and Angelina Jolie as Thena!

Next, Kevin Feige introduced Marvel Studios’ The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, coming to Disney+ in the fall of 2020!

Stars Anthony Mackie (with shield in-hand) and Sebastian Stan came on stage to greet the fans, and it was revealed that Daniel Brühl will return as the villain, Baron Zemo! "We're living our dream," said Mackie. "When we go to work...we have a really good time."

Then, as Mackie and Stan exited, Feige introduced another new film on the way: Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings!

Starring Tony Leung as the Mandarin and  Awkwafina in an undisclosed role, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will arrive in theaters on February 12, 2021. The movie's director, Destin Daniel Cretton, then entered to help introduce the film's star, Shang-Chi himself, Simu Liu!

"Literally, guys, I was cast on Tuesday," said an excited Liu. "This is just the craziest dream."

Next up: Marvel Studios' WandaVision!

An original series coming to Disney+ in the spring of 2021, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprising their MCU roles as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision, WandaVision. Feige introduced the pair, then brought out Teyonah Parris, whom Feige revealed would be playing the adult Monica Rambeau, who was introduced as a child in Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel!

Then, Feige announced that Marvel Studios’ Loki would be arriving on Disney+ starting in the spring of 2021!

And, of course, he brought out the God of Mischief himself, Tom Hiddleston!

"This is one of the most exciting creative territories I've ever come across," said Hiddleston.

Then it was all about another new film... Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness!

Director Scott Derrickson came to the stage and announced "We're gonna make the first scary MCU film." Then Derrickson and Feige introduced the Sorcerer Supreme, Benedict Cumberbatch! (To whom the crowd sang happy birthday!)

Derrickson, Feige, and Cumberbatch then revealed that, on May 7, 2021, the Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen, will join Doctor Strange for the movie. In another twist, the creative team announced that the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will connect with the Disney+ series Marvel Studios' WandaVision!

From there, Kevin Feige introduced the first animated series in the MCU: Marvel Studios’ What If…?

Starring Jeffrey Wright as the voice of the Watcher, many actors from across the MCU will reprise their roles as voice talent. What If…? will present alternate realities in the Marvel Universe that are set to warp your world in the summer of 2021, exclusively on Disney+!

Then came news about Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye on Disney+—and Jeremy Renner entered through the Hall H crowd!

Coming in the fall of 2021, Hawkeye will introduce Marvel Comics fan-favorite, Kate Bishop!

Then, Taika Waititi, Chris Hemsworth, and Tessa Thompson came on stage to help announce Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder!

When asked what comics inspired this new entry, Waititi responded, "When we were shooting Ragnarok, I was reading one storyline by Jason Aaron, called THE MIGHTY THOR. And for those of you that don't know that storyline, it's incredible and full of emotion and love and thunder. And it introduces, for the first time, a female Thor."

Arriving in theaters on November 5, 2021, Thor: Love and Thunder will see Natalie Portman return to the series to swing the mighty mystical mallet, Mjolnir!

But wait! As every cast member from the days announcements filed back on stage...

...Marvelites were treated to one last surprise as Mahershala Ali joined them—to reveal that he'll be playing the eponymous hero in Marvel Studios' Blade!
