“Marvel’s Luke Cage” picked up an Emmy on Sunday, as the series was awarded in the category of Stunt Coordination For a Drama Series, Limited Series or Movie. Congratulations to James Lew, who won at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards for his work as stunt coordinator on the Netflix series!

“We’re very proud of James and his incredible stunt team on ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage’ Season One. Well-deserved, and looking forward to further adventures with him,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Television.

“The Crispus Attucks Raid, set to The Wu-Tang Clan’s ‘Bring Da Ruckus,’ is one of the most electrifying moments in television history,” said series Executive Producer and showrunner, Cheo Hodari Coker. “The sheer logistics and the smack-fu of it all could not have been pulled off without someone of James Lew’s considerable experience and frankly genius. Our backs were against the wall and he came up with something that people still talk about and will always talk about,” he continued. “I’m so happy and thrilled the world is recognizing what I already know.”

“The thrill and honor of this prestigious Emmy Award is shared with my Luke Cage stunt family, crew and cast,” said Lew. “It really is about ‘coordinating’ the entire production to create meaningful and exciting action that moves the story of Luke Cage forward. The honor of being a part of this breakthrough hit series is personal to me because of my upbringing with people of color – and, being able to hire so many stunt performers that are people of color is a career highlight for me,” he added.

The Creative Arts Emmys were presented this past weekend in Los Angeles and will air September 16th on FXX Network.
