Simon Williams is ready for the spotlight.
The first episode of Marvel Television’s Wonder Man is now streaming for free on YouTube. The acclaimed Disney+ series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as aspiring young actor Simon Williams, who fights to make his mark in Hollywood while hiding a secret that could end his career before it even begins.
Along the way, he crosses paths with fellow actor Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), a veteran thespian who’s had a long, strange career of his own. Together, the two strike up an unlikely friendship, and both find themselves pursuing life-changing roles — especially when Simon learns that celebrated director Von Kovak (Zlatko Burić) is remaking his favorite childhood film, the 1980s Super Hero cult classic Wonder Man.
“What was interesting was finding a friendship between two guys on completely different sides of their career but who somehow find themselves in the same place,” Abdul-Mateen II previously told Marvel.com. “They have two completely different philosophies on life, but the commonality is that they both have an appreciation for the craft of acting, and that’s what the friendship revolves around. That was pretty special to create that bond.”
