Cheyenne born and raised, Wildrun becomes the first Red Wolf—a champion of the Cheyenne Nation, thanks to the wolf spirit Owayodata, but ultimately becomes enslaved to a time-traveling conqueror.
First Red Wolf Warrior
In the 1700s, Wildrun was the first Cheyenne warrior selected by the wolf spirit Owayodata to aid the Cheyenne as his champion, the Red Wolf. Wildrun was given an enchanted coup stick by Owayodata.
Master of Combat
Red Wolf is an accomplished tracker, horse rider, and master of armed and unarmed combat. His chief weapon is his versatile Coup stick, which can be used as a bo or javelin. He also wields a hunting knife and bow and arrows.
Forced Allies and Enemies
Wildrun meets time traveler and conqueror Nathaniel Richards, AKA Kang, and engages in combat with him. Losing the battle, he is forced into servitude where he becomes one of Kang’s fighters, lives in the city of Chronopolis, and joins his team of Anachronauts, the greatest warriors of the ages. While fighting for Kang, Wildrun faces the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. He later battles the robotic Incinerators, formerly employed by the Time Variance Authority. Wildrun faces the ruler of extradimensional Limbo Immortus, a future version of Kang, in his defense of Chronopolis.
Life and Times of a Renowned Warrior
As Red Wolf, he started to gain a reputation, having tamed the Cheyenne’s horses and driven the Sioux from their territories. His renown as a warrior caused the time traveler Kang the Conqueror to seek him out and face him in combat. Defeated by Kang, Wildrun was forced to swear allegiance to him and was brought to the city of Chronopolis, which existed outside of normal time. Wildrun became one of Kang’s elite time-crossed warriors, the Anachronauts, alongside whom Wildrun fought his former allies, the Avengers, and Fantastic Four when they invaded Chronopolis. When Kang was rendered comatose by Ravonna the Terminatrix, the Anachronauts became her servants.
During this period, Wildrun helped the Anachronauts stop the robotic Incinerators, who were employed by the Time Variance Authority, from preventing the creation of the Ebony Blade. When Kang eventually revived, he ruled side-by-side with Terminatrix. As Kang’s forces were plunged into a war with his alternate self Immortus, the Anachronauts helped to defend Chronopolis; however, Wildrun was with healers but possibly slain when Immortus destroyed Chronopolis. Wildrun was ultimately laid to rest in his own era within a hidden tomb with his weapons and headdress adorning the site. His mantle was later assumed by Johnny Wakely, believed to be his descendant.
