Hollywood Records has shared the main theme from Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated film The Fantastic Four: First Steps, available to stream now. Oscar, Emmy, and Grammy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino wrote the score, which pays tribute to the film’s retro-futuristic, 1960s-inspired setting.
Giacchino first unveiled the main theme in August 2024 at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. (He also treated fans to a live performance at the Infinity Saga Concert Experience at the Hollywood Bowl in September.)
The digital single is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, and other digital platforms. The full soundtrack will be available July 18.
“I first discovered the Fantastic Four as a kid while digging through a treasure trove of old comics at the Columbus Mart flea market in South Jersey,” Giacchino says. “The moment I opened that first issue, I was captivated by this extraordinary family of Super Heroes who embodied the boundless optimism of the 1960s vision of tomorrow — a future full of scientific marvels and a belief that anything could be achieved with determination and heart. My 10-year-old self would be thrilled to know that I have been given the opportunity to create a theme for that same family. I am hoping that it captures that same spirit of wonder and limitless potential.”
Giacchino has created the musical landscape for some of the most beloved projects of the 21st century, and he previously scored Marvel’s recent Spider-Man films. He also made his directorial debut with the 2022 Marvel special presentation Werewolf by Night.
The Fantastic Four single is also available to pre-order as a collectible 7-inch LP on translucent “Galactic Blue” vinyl. The LP is set to release on July 25 and features two tracks: Side A, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps Main Theme” by Michael Giacchino, and Side B, “Let Us Be Devoured,” written and performed by Inside Out 2’s Andrea Datzman. The full Fantastic Four: First Steps Original Motion Picture Soundtrack vinyl album will also be available this fall.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps opens in theaters July 25.
