Ruben Rabasa Accidentally Improvised his Iconic ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania’ Line
"Thank you, Spider-Man."
There are a lot of Marvel Super Heroes, and a lot of them with hyphens in the name, and even more that end with the name man. So it’s ok to confuse one or two of them every now and then, which is exactly what Ruben Rabasa did while filming his scenes for Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
Like many others first joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Rabasa — who plays the coffee shop barista in the movie — never thought he would be running elbows with Paul Rud, let alone Ant-Man. In one of the early scenes in the movie, after Scott Lang receives his coffee order, Rabasa shouts “Thank you Spider-Man!” after him, humbling the Avenger considering his ego’s gotten a little big at this point.
“It was crazy, I thought it was somebody else, I thought it was Spider-Man!” Rabasa told Marvel on the Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania red carpet. “So when I said, ‘Thank you Spider-Man!’ everyone was like ‘what?”
Rabasa couldn’t figure out why everyone was laughing, because he thought he had said the right name. “There’s Ant-Man, and Spider-Man, too many!” He jokes.
