Women of Marvel Talks Empowering Indigenous Youth with Tokata Iron Eyes
Tokata's story is immortalized in a Marvel comic and the upcoming episode of 'Marvel's Hero Project'!
Tokata Iron Eyes is a 16 year old indigenous youth leader from the Standing Rock Sioux tribe. From an early age, Tokata had stood up for Lakota land and worked to amplify her community's history and legacy, most notably her historic protest against the Dakota Access pipeline in Standing Rock.
Women of Marvel co-host Sana Amanat called up Tokata, who speaking over the phone from the Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota, to discuss the power of storytelling and why she's so passionate about empowering other young people in her community.
