‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’: Know Your Koenigs

Can't tell Eric from Billy from Ernest? We can help!

How many Koenigs is too many Koenigs? If we’re talking about Koenigs in the world of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., there’s no such thing as too many Koenigs as they’re always willing and game to lend a helping hand Phil Coulson, Daisy, May, and the rest of the agents no matter how big or small the task.

And as we recently learned during Season 7 of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Koenig connection actually goes back way further than we originally thought! Though the first Koenig we meet is present-day Eric way back in Season 1, it turns out the Koenigs have actually been helping S.H.I.E.L.D. for almost a century now, going all the way back to the 1930s!

But if you still can’t tell Eric from Billy from Ernest, don’t worry. Here are all the Koenigs we’ve met over the years.

Eric Koenig

After being stationed at Providence (a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. base) by Nick Fury himself, Eric is the first Koening the agents meet. Eric was very excited to issue everyone new lanyards for the base, but only after they were cleared. He was sadly killed by Grant Ward after it was revealed that Ward was secretly working for Hydra.

Billy Koenig

With Eric at Providence, Billy was sent to oversee the Playground by Fury. Billy played a huge role in assisting with the Obelisk and also apprehending Raina. He was later kidnapped by the Watchdogs and found himself trapped in the Framework for a time being before being rescued by his siblings.

Sam Koenig

Just like Eric and Billy, Sam also became a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and worked during some of the early days of the Life-Model Decoy program. Staying at a S.H.I.E.L.D safehouse, Sam helped Agent Coulson recruit former allies back to S.H.I.E.L.D after the Hydra collapse. Sam was also instrumental in helping with Theta Protocol, which secretly repaired a helicarrier.

Thurston Koenig

Unlike his brothers, Thurston had no interest in joining S.H.I.E.L.D. and instead went on to become a performance artist, dabbling in slam poetry. However, he still found himself unwillingly along for a mission after he was taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody for his own safety.

LT Koenig

Unlike her younger brothers, LT did not grow up with any other identical siblings. As the oldest, she actually picked on the four of them a lot (leading to lots of crying), and though she lost touch with some of her brothers over the years they still know how to come together as a family — and also work together to stop the Darkhold from falling into the wrong hands.

Ernest Koenig

The agents meet the original Koening in the 1930s traveling on the Zephry One and is fascinated by all their advanced technology — and also Chronicon Enoch. Koening runs a speakeasy from back in the day and later hires Enoch has a bartender after he’s left behind during a time jump.

Season 7 of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
