"Being able to put the spotlight on some of the best artists in the business and how they broke into comics was a pure delight," shared co-author Jim Viscardi. "I hope that any aspiring artists reading this book can see how their favorite creators broke in and the work it took to continue fine-tooling their skills."

"Comic book artists have given so much to the world our imaginations live in that it was an honor to celebrate those contributions in a way that also highlights the hard work it takes to break into the industry," added co-author Mallory Murphy Viscardi. "I remember when James was working on this project during his days at Marvel, the excitement that came with finding and elevating these exceptional artists. This project felt very much the same, like we were tapping into that same enthusiasm for talented people who love the art form as much as we do."

About the Authors

Jim Viscardi, a lifelong comic book fan, currently serves as the VP of Business Development at Image Comics. Before that, he helped launch ComicBook.com and served as the website's executive editor for ten years. But, his start in the industry began at Marvel Entertainment working in Sales & PR. There, he got to witness firsthand what it was like to work with some of the biggest characters and creators in the business, launching some of the company's most successful publishing events like Secret Invasion, Avengers vs. X-Men, and Infinity. Jim now resides right outside Nashville, Tennessee with his wife, daughter, and menagerie of pets.

Mallory Murphy Viscardi grew up in Upstate New York before moving to NYC for college, where she went on one date with a cute guy who was VERY into comics. The rest is history. Her mild-mannered alter ego works as an elementary school counselor and she lives with that cute comic nerd and their comic nerd daughter outside of Nashville, Tennessee… but she’s still a New Yorker at heart.
