Biography

General Dar-Benn is known as the austere, living symbol of the racial mosaic that is the Kree Empire. He rules the Kree alongside fellow general, Ael-Dann.

Joint Ruler of the Kree

Kree Generals Dar-Benn and Ael-Dann coordinate a plot to assassinate Kree leader and hapless alien Clumsy Foulup. Foulup had been put into power by a scheme of both the Cotati and another Skrull posing as the Elder of the Universe called Tath Ki, AKA Contemplator. The generals successfully carry out their assassination plot using a robotic Silver Surfer, leaving them as joint rulers of the Empire.

Strategist

General Dar-Benn is a strategist, successfully plotting a coup and taking the Empire by force alongside Ael-Dann. As a Kree warrior, he’s trained in armed and unarmed combat, and wields either a powerful gun that discharges an energy beam or a staff.

Kree and Outworlder Enemies

A demanding and unforgiving ruler, Dar-Benn comes to believe that all members of the old regime should be eradicated, including Kree enforcer Ronan the Accuser. Dar-Benn also goes head to head with the Shi’ar Cal’syee Neramani, AKA Deathbird, who slays Ael-Dann in front of him. Deathbird subsequently slays Dar-Benn and usurps the Kree territories, ruling over them as viceroy.

Tentative Allies

While allied with his fellow Kree, should they fail him, they forfeit their life. One such life is Att-Lass, AKA Captain Atlas, who fails to secure the city of Kree-Lar and as such allows the Supreme Intelligence (SI) and his elite special forces team Starforce to infiltrate.

A Kree Leader’s Account

After Korath-Thak spent a few years making the Pursuer process more cost-effective, new Kree leaders, Generals Dar-Benn and Ael-Dann, decided that the project would not be viable quickly enough and terminated it. They transferred a bitter Korath-Thak to a munitions plant, where he re-created another template and bonded it to himself.

The now-recovered Kree Supreme Intelligence (SI) conceived a monstrous plan to prod the Kree out of their so-called evolutionary dead end. It secretly implanted the idea of creating a Nega-Bomb large enough to destroy an interstellar empire in the minds of the rival Shi’ar Imperium rulers, and mentally intensified the prejudices of the ruling Kree, Shi’ar, and Skrull leaders to the point of inciting war. Shi’ar Majestrix Lilandra Neramani and Kree rulers Ael-Dann and Dar-Benn were manipulated into a race to gather the necessary pieces to build the bomb. The Shi’ar were ultimately successful and the bomb exploded in the center of the Kree’s galaxy, killing 98% of the Kree population and many other subject races as well. The SI smuggled its mind to a mercenary spaceship while manipulating Avenger Dane Whitman, AKA Black Knight, into killing its original body.

Lilandra’s sister, Deathbird, became Viceroy of the Kree territories, ruling with an iron hand and aided by the indentured Kree super-team, Starforce.

Meanwhile, the SI had Korath the Pursuer join his new Starforce on Kree homeworld Hala, where he attacked a group of Avengers before being defeated by Captain America. Recovering, Korath and Starforce again attacked the Avengers, overwhelming them. However, both teams were powerless to stop the royal Shi’ar renegade Deathbird while she killed Dar-Benn and Ael-Dann. Their minds were absorbed into the SI.
