READ MORE OF WOLVERINE’S GREATEST STORIES HERE!

He’s the best there is at what he does—and what he does is slice, dice, and eviscerate his way into our hearts. We’re talking about Wolverine, the X-Men’s most ferocious member. Over the years, Logan has grown into a steadfast hero, yet his unforgiving ‘tude has remained the same. But we've come to love him, both for his complex beginnings and antiheroic tendencies.

New on Marvel Unlimited: Wolverine’s all-new solo series debuts on the forefront of the Dawn of X, the current X-Men lineup that has established a new mutant homeland on the island-nation of Krakoa.

Now, with all of mutantkind together in one place, will Wolverine find peace at last? With his family united and safe, Logan has everything he ever wanted… and everything to lose. Be there as writer Benjamin Percy (X-FORCE, WOLVERINE: THE LONG NIGHT) and legendary artist Adam Kubert take the best there is up against old foes and new enemies in a run that can be read right alongside X-FORCE (2019).

What is Marvel Unlimited?

Before cutting into this exciting first issue, here are a few other must-read Wolverine stories to prep you for his starring turn. All can be read on Marvel Unlimited right now!

FIRST (FULL) APPEARANCE

First Appearance

Wolverine, AKA “Weapon X,” clawed onto the scene in INCREDIBLE HULK (1962) #180, a final page splash that immediately established his snarly demeanor. Leveling the animalistic rage of Wendigo and the Hulk with an equal level of savagery, Wolverine proved a worthy contender against two brutes (several) times his size.

Read Wolverine’s first full appearance in INCREDIBLE HULK #181, a now-famous dust-up.

GIANT-SIZE X-MEN

Giant-Size

The issue that catapulted the X-Men into commercial success. Here, we meet NightcrawlerColossusStorm and Thunderbird for the very first time, while Wolverine gains his place among the mutants.

Continue with UNCANNY X-MEN (1963) #94 for writer Chris Claremont’s behemoth run that introduced a slew of mainstays, and gave us storylines like the PHOENIX/DARK PHOENIX SAGADAYS OF FUTURE PAST, and so (SO) much more.

This is the X-Men gone global. And the scale of Claremont’s storytelling, characterization and universe-building spanned as far as the team itself.

WOLVERINE BY CHRIS CLAREMONT AND FRANK MILLER

In the X-Men's first major solo adventure, legendary creators Chris Claremont and Frank Miller took Logan to Japan.

Wolverine's vacation from the X-Men was interrupted when he discovered that his beloved, Mariko Yashida, had been married off by her criminal father Lord Shingen. When Shingen humiliated Wolverine in front of Mariko, the hero lost his heart, drowning his sorrows in beer, bar fights, and the arms of wild assassin Yukio. But when ninjas attacked and betrayal struck from a most unexpected source, Wolverine was forced to rescue Mariko from the trap Shingen had drawn around them both.

Writer and artist Barry Windsor-Smith mesmerized with Wolverine’s defining origin.

Once, a man named Logan was codename Weapon X. A shadowy enclave controlled and channeled his subhuman rage, transforming the mutant into an adamantium-laced berserker and a ghost of a man. Read the classic arc in full.

X-FORCE

X-Force

X-Force was assembled for the sole purpose of handling threats that the X-Men could not. And by “handle,” we do mean permanently. While the leader of Cyclops’ kill crew, Wolverine teetered on the edge of losing all that made him human.

X-23, Warpath, Wolfsbane, Archangel, and Domino rounded out the most violent X-team of all time.

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN

Binge blockbuster writer Jason Aaron's WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN.

When an Institute for mutants was still around, Wolverine returned to Westchester to start over with a new school and a new student body. Logan, and a staff including Beast, Iceman, Rachel Summers, Kitty Pryde, Storm, Husk and Doop, tried to lead the Children of the Atom into the future. But first they had to survive a new Hellfire Club, Sabretooth, an army of mischievous Bamfs, war with the Avengers, and the Phoenix Five.

After the devastating events of “X-Men Disassembled,” it fell to Scott Summers to rebuild the X-Men in the face of overwhelming hatred. Thankfully, he wasn’t the only X-Man to have just returned from oblivion. Drawing together a new team from the ashes, Cyclops and Wolverine turn their eyes to setting an all-new agenda.
